75 years old!
Somehow this feels older than 74 years old….I think since it is sort of close to 100. Also, I have never thought of myself as a 75-year-old woman. I seem to identify with my past self when I was about 55 years old—the year that our oldest granddaughter, Marina, was born.
And now my Danny and I have 14 grandchildren. Marina is 20 years old…..I am 75 years old!
I now have more aches and pains than I was 55, I don’t run four miles every few days, and it is harder to get up from the floor after I do my pushups. But my spirit, enthusiasm, and love of hiking, dancing, and life is equal to that of when I was a young girl. In this, I know that I am very fortunate.
It is good to be 75 years old. I know that the reason that it is good to be 3/4 of a century is because of all the love that surrounds me every single day—this love I feel for my dear husband, our children, grandchildren, and family is a strength that fills me with joy.
And I know that I am deeply loved by all these special people whom I love so much….my love, my Danny, our children, all 14 grandchildren, and all our family.
This is what makes life and every day a blessing….the love that I give and the love this is received.
My 75th birthday in photos….
Thank you for the loving messages, gifts, and for Happy Birthday phone call!
These socks win the award for the goofiest gift ever….but they’re super cool too. Emily, Sean, Soren, and Sebastian gave us matching bunny socks with floppy ears and bulging eyes.
(Embarrassment alert: We will definitely wear them often!)
I was also given lovely, soothing wind chimes with a very special message….
…. thank you, Emily, Sean, Soren, and Sebastian.
Emily gifted me with a delicate, loving heart….
Gifts from Rachelle, Ryan, Ida, Alden, and Wilder….
On my birthday, Rachelle, Ida, Alden, and Wilder called and sang Happy Birthday to me.
Another special card from Rachelle and Ryan. And loving handmade cards from Ida, Alden, and Wilder….
All my cards are hanging in the living room at our cabin, so we can enjoy them for not just today, but always.
Owen and Mila sent us a video and photos of these precious little grandchildren of ours…..
And they called from the Kingston Ferry to to wish me a Happy Birthday….and a very Festive Birthday it was!
Loving birthday message from Marina, who is studying in Japan….
And birthday wishes from our dear granddaughter, Stella…
Calvin, Alison, Aryana, and Easton send me a Happy Birthday message too…
I was able to receive a wonderful call with our sister, Kathy, and niece, Tonia. Amazing to be able to FaceTime in the pine forest up on top of the Mogollon Rim!
And Kathy sent a loving card that I’ll always treasure….
Candice not only gave me a surprise birthday party when we were in Boulder for Stella’s graduation, but today she also sent messages to me and we talked at length on the telephone.
The “wicks” not only light up our cabin, but they brighten up our life every day.
Dinner with my love….in our beloved mountain forest.
And my Danny’s special card and gifts….I always feel his love so very much!
My Birthday salt and pepper shaker—kissing in our cabin….(reminds me of us!)
My birthday pie and ice cream….shared with the love of my life.
Thank you, dear family, for sharing my birthday, your life, and your love with Danny and me.
