13 years ago today we met at a dance. I walked in and saw this woman on the dance floor....simply sparkling. Like there was some kind of Broadway-type spotlight on her. I quickly put on my dance shoes and rushed out onto the floor between songs, wanting to get to her before anyone else asked her to dance. I went up to her and asked: "Can I have a dance?”
She had her back to me, and turned around when I asked her. Her first words to me, ever, were: "What is it?" I said "It's a waltz," recognizing from the first chord that it was Sarah McLachlan singing Angel.
Vicky is wearing the same dress and sweater she wore that night. She has saved them all of these years. I didn't know her name right away, so referred to her as "pink sweater lady." I found out she was taking dancing lessons the next day, so I signed up for one that I didn't need just so she could gradually get to know me.
In about four months we were married. I don't know why we took, like, FOREVER!
