Over the hills and through the woods….

…..to the spectacular Rim we hiked.

Only a few hundred feet from our campsite we found this magnificent view of the edge of the Rim and the wilderness 2,500 feet below….as far south as the eye can see.

Once again we weren’t on a trail or old logging road.  We knew that the Rim was to the south, so as the sun rose in the east, we went looking for the Rim.

Just look at the series of mountain ranges that were spread out before us.  Most people who live elsewhere think that Arizona is an uninhabitable desert, and that the only true beauty in our lovely state is the Grand Canyon.

We moved here six years ago because of the huge variety of ecosystems and unlimited public lands throughout the state. Because of the number of these National Forests, Wilderness Areas, National Parks and Monuments is so vast, most all of  the public lands where we camp are isolated and private.

We can’t believe that this beauty and endless playground for hiking and cycling is practically out the back door of our cabin!
