Life lesson: Use pancake mix for pancakes

Sebastian arrived yesterday.  We are set for a week of fun.

When we talked earlier this week, Grandma asked what he'd like for dinner.  He said "Steak and asparagus....and a chocolate chip cookie!"

So we had steak, asparagus and baked potatoes.  He ate a meal of steak, asparagus and potato, and then wanted more.  So he ate another meal of steak and asparagus. ...then his big homemade chocolate chip cookie (note to mom and dad: get ready, a growth spurt is ready to happen).

Then, this morning, Sebastian and Grandma made pancakes.  I had scored four bags of pancake mix when we were at Candice's MOAB 240 race, when they gave away the food that had not been eaten.  I also got syrup and lots of taco sauce.

So they mixed up the batter.  Grandma kept saying  "this just doesn't seem right."  She added the blueberries and put a couple of pancakes into the skillet.

And they disappeared.

They don't look much like pancakes, do they?  All that's left is the blueberries.

So we looked at the fine print on the pancake mix:

A mandarin orange drink?

So, it was off to Walmart to get a real pancake mix!

.........and of course, Sebastian had to get a snack with his own spending money.    He's promised to share, but we'll see how that goes.

Pancakes look a little more normal now:

It's called Adventures in Breakfast.

In a few hours we are heading to Wickenburg to go to a real live rodeo....pilgrim.
