We were treated to a vast array of beautiful spring flowers as we hiked into the Superstition Mountains on the Arizona Trail. The centuries old saguaro cacti towered over us as we wound our way up Whitford Canyon. A special treat was the creek that flowed out of the mountains at the base of the canyon.
In a few short weeks the temperatures will be in the 100’s. The spring blossoms will be withered, and the creek bed will be a dry wash.
But on this beautiful spring day, the hills were in full bloom and alive with a multitude of singing birds and even a small silver fox!
In the last twelve years Dan and I have headed out and hiked in the wilderness almost nine hundred times. But this day hiking with Emily in the vibrant Sonoran desert was a special day that we will always remember.
