Christmas again….and goodbye to 2024

A few days after Christmas Sean, Emily, and our grandsons, Soren and Sebastian came to our home to celebrate Christmas….and to spend several days playing with us.  So we celebrated Christmas Day II with them.

We all had so much fun!

Our theme this Christmas was to give gifts from our childhood….the 50’s and 60’s.

Soren was Santa Claus this year.

Yarn for Grandma from Soren.

Emily and Sean found some beautiful, soft socks for Grandma.

And Soren gave Grandpa some extra cool and cuddly socks.

Sebastian gave us old-fashioned horns for our bikes….they sound like Canadian geese honking.  This will definitely startle the elk up at our cabin in Pine!

Everyone needs coloring books and crayons!

Soren and Grandma made the traditional M&M, chocolate chip, and blueberry pancakes for “Christmas”morning.  Soren has become an expert pancake chef!

We spent several afternoons on our patio.  We were treated to some very special sunsets.

Unfortunately, we closed the metal shade in the living room on a chair and broke the shade.

Sean actually wanted to try to fix our shade.  He thought it would be fun.  And, miraculously, he did a pretty darn good job.  He took it totally apart, put it back together, and diagnosed the problem….only one broken plastic part.  He even was able to raise the shade enough that we didn’t have to spend our days on the dark!

A well deserved break!

Wrestling match out on the lawn.  Marina and Stella didn’t wrestle in the grass when they visited us at Thanksgiving.  But then, boys will be boys.

One morning we headed off  to hike in the mountains.  Soren was barely awake, so he took a nap on Grandma’s shoulder….so tender and loving.  A very special moment for us.

The Lost Goldmine Trail in the Supertition Mountains….

The evening before our dear family had to leave, we celebrated Sean’s birthday.  Sean has been involved in Boy Scouts all of his life.  He earned his Eagle Scout badge as a youth, and now works for Scouting America.

We found a special gift to commemorate his adventures and successes with scouting—a vintage Boy Scouts camera….in the original box, compete with a flash, spare bulbs, film, and vintage batteries!

Time to say goodbye to 2024 and to our dear family. We had tears in our eyes as we gave each of them a hug.  We are thankful that Soren and Sebastian will be back very soon in 2025 for their spring breaks!

Our memories of this dear family grow with each passing year.  These memories are the best gift ever!
