Marina and Stella are no longer our little granddaughters

They are now young women, and they are just as much fun as ever!

We gave Marina a choice—we would come to her high school graduation or to her final choir performance.  She chose the choir performance.  So we drove to Colorado to see our oldest granddaughter sing.  And to spend some special time with Marina, Stella, and Candice.  We will also visit Kathy, Tonia, and several old friends who now live in the area.

Candice was out of town until late Sunday night, so we spent the whole weekend with just Marina and Stella…and we had a blast!

We hung out at home, laughed and talked a lot, ate takeout together, and gave each other lots of hugs.  And Marina and Stella showed us around Boulder, their home town.

We went to the Dairy Arts Center where Marina’s artwork was on display.  Her art teacher had picked a handful of student art pieces to enter in the show.  This is Marina with her entry.

Marina titled her oil painting, “Let your dreams take root.”

We went to Chatauqua Park where Dan had spent a summer with his family when he was a child.  We even found the house where they had stayed.

We had great fun at Marina and Stella’s favorite haunt.  Believe it, or not….a real old fashioned record store!

Marina and Stella honored us with a music performance.  Marina played her cello and sang. And then Stella played the guitar, including an original piece that she composed.  Grandpa joined in and sang accompaniment to both girls.

I got to be the audience, and I thoroughly enjoyed the concert!

In case you didn’t notice—when Marina and Stella saw us in our orange shirts, they decided to wear orange shirts too.  We’re all matching.  What fun…our granddaughters traipsed all around their home town dressed like their grandma and grandpa!

This was a weekend, a very special weekend, that we’ll always remember.  Thank you, Marina and Stella, for the wonderful memories.
