In Pine, where we have our summer cabin, we found out that when we left our trash can out but were no longer in town when the trash was collected, that someone moved our trash can back from the street.
No one took credit. We finally asked enough people to find out who was doing this....a couple we have subsequently gotten to know who walk every morning in Pine. They never said anything about it.
Yesterday, in our Leisure World home, two of our neighbors took it upon themselves to repair the mailboxes that four of us use.
They look so much better now, and don't wobble. One of our neighbors told us the materials cost $40, so we chipped in, of course.
We live in two places where neighbors are....well...neighbors. This is the way things used to be, and we are happy to think that this is the way things still are where we live. Seems like maybe it is a small thing, but it isn't. It matters.
Our newly repaired and painted mailboxes:
Thank you to our good neighbors in Pine and Leisure World.
