Snow in Mesa, Arizona!!!

We had to delay our nighttime 50K bike ride, and cycle instead early this morning, due to rain, wind, and lightning.  What’s a little stormy weather at 4 am?  Oh well, I guess that we can now officially consider ourselves true “wimps!”

Anyway, by 8 am the roads were still dripping wet, but the rain had stopped AND the sun was out….that’s Arizona for you.  And that’s why we live is beautiful Arizona.

So we headed out on our bikes—in the daylight.  Boy, the world sure looked different during the day.  Leisure World was wide awake and bustling with runners, golfers, landscape workers, and dogs walking their old folks.  And everyone greeted us with a big smile, an exuberant wave, and a cheery greeting.  What a wonderful place Danny and I live in!

Although all the paths and golf courses were half under water, they were still calling to us to cycle on the paths.  But we’ll have to wait until early tomorrow morning, before dawn when the golfers are still snug in their beds and not driving their carts all over our eight miles of paths.

For the first time ever, we saw snow in Mesa!

See the snow on the 3,300’ peaks of Pass Mountain, just a few miles north of us.  The top of Pass Mountain is only 2000’ higher than our home.

Snow in Mesa is very unusual.  That’s why we have a home here in the “Valley,” where the winters are sunny and warm.  Up at our mountain cabin in Pine, there is 12” of snow right now, and 6-8” more are forecasted for today!

The snow seems to have broken off the top of one of the trees in our driveway.  Dan, get out the chainsaw….or better yet, let’s call Brian, the local Pine handyman.

And that’s why we are living at Nuestra Casa during the winters, and not at our cabin.  Now….in the summer, when it is boiling hot in the “Valley,” we’ll be at our sweet mountain cabin, in the cool tall pines.
