More working on the wood project

We recently bought another wood splitter.   We are co-owners of a gas powered one, which is very powerful.  It is stored at a friend's house (another co-owner of it), and we could move it over any time to split the wood we are cutting from the trees that were downed last fall.

However, we decided to go another direction.   On Amazon we found a hand powered splitter.  It works on the principle of the lever and hydraulics.

It will split wood up to 12 inches in diameter, which is more than it is advertised to do.  What we think (in other words, what we are making up) is that larger diameter logs can be split if they are relatively short in length.

One reason we decided to purchase this type of splitter is to force ourselves to do more manual labor.  We could hire out getting all of the wood cut and split.  But the more we do ourselves the better we feel physically.  We both can use this tool.  And there is also a sense of pride in accomplishing these kinds of tasks.
