We went a simply amazing bike ride this morning. This is a day that we want to always remember.
As the the sun was rising over the tree tops, we cycled at 7200' elevation on the back roads that weave around the edge of the Mogollon Rim. There was frost on the ground. Winter is upon us at these high elevations. It seemed unbelievable that we can ride Wile E and the Roadrunner on December 4th, and still feel the warmth of the sun on our skin!
As we headed out on our e-Bikes it was 37 degrees. Yes, we were totally bundled up in our lightweight down jackets, wool gloves, long underwear, and hats under our bike helmets. But we were comfortably warm.
We cycled over seventeen miles. The narrow road twisted up and down through the forests and meadows, and high above deep ravines. The views were spectacular.
The road was challenging, but we never had to turn around to avoid sections of the road where we would risk falling. We could pump hard and go fast enough to feel the exhilaration of our effort as we successfully flew over bumps and rocks. But we also cycled slowly enough to be able to look around and enjoy the beauty of the Rim.
We will repeat this ride many times through the years. It was a five star bike ride!
We are totally content. Our life is fulfilling and good. We are so thankful that we both treasure these kind of experiences.
