Talking to our baby granddaughter, Aryana, from 1,548 miles away

Although we have been unable to hold our little granddaughter, Aryana, we have been able to “watch” her grow from a newborn into a eleven month-old baby.  When she was very young. Alison and Calvin asked if we could “talk” to Aryana so she could get to know her grandparents.  We, uh, said "YES!!!"

We downloaded Google Duo and have been talking to Aryana (and her parents) ever since.

We have been having such fun talking to her, listening to her “talk," and watching her play.  Most important of all is that even in the middle of a pandemic, we are not missing out on seeing this little precious girl grow, develop, and be in her baby stage. And last week we got to see Aryana as she crawled for the first time!

Here are some photos of Aryana “talking” to her loving, adoring grandparents:

.

One morning our cell phone rang just as we were finishing our 4 mile walk around the ponds and golf courses in our neighborhood.  The sun hadn’t even started to rise over the desert mountains, but a baby doesn’t necessarily wait until daylight to stand up for the first time.

Aryana wanted to show us how she could pull herself up and stand....and fall....and stand....and fall, over and over again.  At least 10 times she stood up and fell over and every time she stood up, she grinned at us!  It was simply delightful.

On October 11th, Aryana waved to Grandma and Grandpa and we actually, REALLY heard her say, “bye, bye”!

One morning we watched Aryana crawl from room to room in their new home.  She was too busy exploring to even stop crawling and wave “bye bye”  to us.  It was an experience we will never forget!
