With Ian in the Old Dad Mountains of the Mojave National Preserve

This small mountain range (probably 3 miles by 10 miles) is one of our favorites.  Full of interesting places to hike and old mines.

For our last hike with Ian we went there, and did a very long hike (7.5 miles, 1000 feet of elevation gain/loss).

He enjoyed determining the depth of the mines by dropped rocks into them.  Some were VERY deep.

That night we watched Plan 9 from Outer Space.  He loved it.  He flies back to Seattle tomorrow.  We are really going to miss him.
