Can SOMEONE tell us why we can't swim at Hillsborough State Park, FL?

Sometimes we just don’t get the rules at the parks.

Here we are, with our swim suits already on, in the sweltering Florida heat, with the humidity at probably 90%, and all we want is a short dip in the river to cool off.

But NO, not in Florida, the land of no fun.

So we decided to take a walk along the river-where-we-aren’t-allowed-to-swim, to take in the Florida flora and fauna.

And we saw so many cute animals on our hike.

Along the trail, we ran into a nice man who took our photo:

We love this park. It has vestiges of the CCC:

Very well marked and well constructed trails:

And campsites with plenty of room, privacy, and a feel of nature.

We just don't understand the rules.

  1. There are two possible reasons you shouldn't swim in the river:
    1) alligators
    2) bacteria
