We have now cycled 14,000 miles in Leisure World, our gated community. The total area of Leisure World is just over one square mile. Most of these 14,000 miles have been in a four-year period, with the exception of last summer where we were living in Pine, AZ, for about six months.
All but a few of these miles have been in the dark, or early dawn.
It would have been hard for us to imagine cycling all of those miles in such a small area. One would think that it would be too boring or repetitive.
But it's not. Cycling in the dark is so gentle and peaceful. We can cycle hard for many of the miles, and then we do all of the golf paths (about 8 miles of them) which are super challenging in the dark and at our speeds of 14-18 mph.
...but still, 14,000 miles...in one square mile?
