The racquetball game that will never end

Got some emails and photos today from my old friends Doug and Susan.

For many years we had a weekly ritual.  We would play racquetball at the YMCA, and then go out to breakfast at Zorba's restaurant.

A year before I left Bloomington (15 1/2 years ago) and a few years before Susan left, Doug left to take a job at Denver University.

Our last morning together:  The three of us were playing and the score was 11-11-11.

Doug suggested we stop there and then forever we would have a game that was still being played.

Great idea.  We did.  Today I got some photos from Susan of our breakfast at Zorbas.  And then Doug sent photos of that last ball.  After we got done with that final game, we all signed the ball at Zorbas....and we had the woman who usually waited on us sign it also.

Sometimes sweet memories of the past are just too wonderful to know how to put into words.

For 16 years Doug has kept that ball.
