Pictures of our family.....on our virtual Seattle to Portland bike ride

We always dreamed of doing the Seattle to Portland (STP) with more of our family, and especially our grandchildren.  We finally get to do this!  The 2020 July STP bike ride was cancelled due to the pandemic.  Cascade Bicycle Club offered a Virtual STP (starting July 18th and ending August 6th) and ten of us from Atlanta Georgia, Fort Collins Colorado, Seattle Washington, and Dan and I in Mesa Arizona decided to “ride” to Portland together virtually.

Here are some of the pictures of us from all our corners of the USA.....

Sean cycling in the early dawn at Stone Mountain, Georgia:

And at Arabia Mountain, Georgia:

Jules, Ian, and Adam riding to Myrtle Edwards Park on the Seattle waterfront in Washington:

Puget Sound with the Olympic Mountains in the horizon:

Soren and Sebastian cycling at Panola State Park in Georgia:

Dan and me (virtually half way to Portland in Centralia Washington) celebrating at 4 a.m. with a traditional Centralia creamsicle. Boy did they taste good in 90 degree temperatures at the end of the bike ride in our Arizona desert!

Our family is continuing to ride the 2020 virtual Seattle to Portland bicycle ride together....we are all having such fun!

Soren and Sebastian rode into “Centralia” with Sean!  They are (virtually) half way to Portland.  Here they are enjoying their Centralia creamsicle in Pensacola Florida:

Sean has been drooling over his finish line beer for two weeks!

Bill left Seattle on his virtual STP days after the rest of us.  He had to dig around his garage and dust off his bikes.  He found that his road bike was inoperable and due to the pandemic he couldn’t take it to a repair shop.  So he decided to check out his trail bike.  Luckily he is a fix-it yourself sort of guy.  He had to order parts and then he started working on the brakes, gears, tires, and much more.  Several days later Bill crossed the start line in Seattle, far behind us, and started to madly pedal toward Portland....on a trail bike!Bill finishing the STP on the bike trails in LaPorte Colorado:Emily crosses the finish line at Langden Beach Florida on the Gulf of Mexico!
We all cheered as Jules entered Portland and crossed the finish line!  He rode late into the evening after a full day of work....in the rain in Seattle Washington.

We are all virtually in Portland together hugging and toasting each other.  A ride well done!

As of August 6th, the final day of the STP, our family team (Nightmare Farm) has completed over six and a half virtual STPs.  Go Nightmare Farm!!!

This was so much more fun than we had anticipated. Dan and I are so happy.
