A herd of deer...un"herd" of

On our bike ride this morning, we saw this in a field.  There were two more of them across the road. 

Vicky has lived on Whidbey Island for 36 years, and me for 11.  Neither of us have ever seen anything like this.  They were all females, about the same age.

Antelope roam in herds, as do elk.  But we have never seen deer like this before.  No males and no babies.  All were young females.
